Knowing the "who, what, where, when, why, and how" of your mailings can be tricky balancing act. Sure, some are easier to discern than others (we generally know "why" we are sending, for example), while others are not so obvious. This is part of why Informz's Mailing Activity Report (MAR). In fact, if you check out the Email Client Type report, you'll dive into one less-than-obvious type of "where" - where are your subscribers opening their mailings?
Navigate to Mailings > View > Sent tab.
Identify your desired mailing, hover over the Menu icon, and click Report to open the MAR.
Once open, navigate to the Details tab > Opens > Email Client Type.
Here, you'll see a pie chart that displays the different email clients that your subscribers used to open your mailing. These include (but are not limited to):
- Mobile Devices (smart phones, tablets, etc.).
- Web-Based Email Clients (gmail.com, msn.com, etc.)
- Desktop Software (MS Outlook, etc.)
To download the pie chart, click the Menu icon in the top right corner and select from the download options.
How Does Informz Know?
You may be wondering how Informz determines the client type! No, it's not magic - rather, there are some cool behind-the-scenes operations that allow Informz to register a mailing as "opened" and to determine where it was opened. These involve a tiny "tracking image" in the mailing that needs to be pulled by email clients. Once the email client establishes a connection with Informz to pull the image, it communicates its client type to Informz.
Remember, the more you know (and you know a lot!), the better you can navigate the ever-growing world of email communications!
