2018-02-10 Release Notes

This release provides a new login experience for all users. In addition to a nice design, there are improvements around “forgot my password” and validation based on IP address.

Didn’t Change

There are a few aspects about the login that did not change. These are:

  1. The account URL remains the same
  2. Current username and password can be used to log in
  3. Lockout after 5 attempts with 30 minutes between the 5th attempt and a new set of logins.
  4. The Logout menu option remains the same

Login Page

The Informz login page has been completely redesigned. It features attractive images and a streamlined flow.

The images will change from day to day providing a refreshed look.

Password Requirements

The password requirements have been updated to also reflect current trends. The requirements are:

  • Minimum of 8 characters
  • Maximum of 50 characters
  • At least one number or one special character
  • Spaces are not supported

It is recommended to use a phrase-based approach to creating longer passwords.

Forgot Your Password?

This feature has been reworked to reflect current password reset trends. The way a reset now works is:

  1. If the username has been entered
    1. the email address is ascertained and then an email is sent
    2. a pop-up displays indicating that the email was sent
    3. clicking the link in the mailing opens the “Create a new password” page
    4. a new password is entered, confirmed, and submitted
    5. an on-screen message confirms the change and displays a link to “return to the login page”
  2. If the username has NOT been entered
    1. a pop-up displays for the email address
    2. a pop-up displays indicating that the email was sent if a matching password was found
    3. clicking the link in the mailing opens the “Create a new password” page
    4. a new password is entered, confirmed, and submitted
    5. an on-screen message confirms the change and displays a link to “return to the login page”

This link is valid for 24 hours.

If you are logging in from a different location while resetting your password, the IP validation will still execute. This means that while in the process of changing a password, you may need to reauthenticate from the new IP address.

IP Validation

A standard security approach is to do an IP address validation for a user to ensure that a login is from an expected location. If Informz detects a new IP address from one that was last used, a message displays as shown below.

Upon clicking the link in the mailing, the user is logged into their account. This link is valid for 24 hours.

Session Timeout Logic

Informz has dramatically improved. The 2 hour session expiration has been removed and replaced with an up to seven day active session! Here’s how it works.

Upon logging in, a cookie is established indicating the establishment of an Informz session. This cookie remains alive for seven days.

If the browser tab is closed without logging out of Informz, and a URL is entered on another browser tab, the user will be taken directly to their account. If a saved bookmark is used, other than to the login page, that too will open the page as long as the cookie is still alive. If a bookmark goes to the login page, then the user will have to login to proceed.

Beyond seven days, you will be required to login again.

Net Promoter Score

The net promoter score pop-up has been removed from the login experience.
