2017-09-12 (Sprint 16)

Release Date: September 12, 2017

This release focuses on several enhancements, notably improvements to integration personalizations

Asset Manager Updates

We have updated the Informz Asset Manger. While most functionality has remained the same, please note that there may be minor differences/idiosyncrasies in the way the updated version behaves.

Character Limits

There is a character limit for Asset Manager file names. Informz determines this limit from your account's directory structure and displays a corresponding error when you exceed the maximum number of characters.

Association Anywhere Personalizations

The following personalization fields are now available with the Informz for Association Anywhere integration:

  • Subgroup Name
  • Subgroup ID
  • Class CD
  • Subclass CD
  • Status Code
  • Join Date
  • Expire Date
  • Terminate Date
  • Direct or Inherited
  • Renewal Date
  • Member ID
  • Company ID

Please note that when the integration provides more than one record for membership queries, Informz automatically selects the most recent active membership (personalizations currently have a one-to-one relationship). If there is no active record, Informz uses the most recent record.

Campaigns – MD2 HTML Mailings

Users can now add mailings created with the Mailing Designer 2 (MD2) From HTML feature to campaigns when they select Copy Existing Mailing from the dropdown list. Likewise, they can copy From HTML mailings already in a campaign when they select Copy Campaign Mailing.

Additionally, users can select Create New From HTML Mailing to create a mailing with the From HTML feature.

Users can view all From HTML mailings in a campaign report, the mailing tab in the campaign, and the campaign’s test mode.

There are two new validation messages in the Error menu for From HTML mailings:

  • If the mailing contains invalid HTML: :The mailing for Send Mail item [step name] contains invalid HTML. Please correct this and update your mailing.”
  • If the mailing does not have a corresponding text version: “The mailing for Send Mail item [step name] must include a text version. Please update your mailing.”

Please note that the Tentative Send Date is not displayed in From HTML mailings.

Hyperlink Tool (From HTML)

There is a new Hyperlink Tool in the From HTML TD2 option. This allows users to generate the correct hyperlink HTML for their mailings (such as hyperlinks to Informz Landing Pages).

Steps

Navigate to Mailing Designer 2.0 > Create > From HTML (or open an existing From HTML mailing).

Click Hyperlink Tool to expand the page and reveal the hyperlink generation tool.

Click the Hyperlink dropdown list and select the type of hyperlink to add (note that each type has its own selection options).

  • Web Page
  • Web Version of this Mailing
  • Form Landing Page
  • Content-Only Landing Page
  • Unsubscribe Hyperlink
  • Email Address
  • Document

When ready, click Generate Hyperlink Markup. If necessary, check the Disable Tracking checkbox to ensure that the subsequent HTML excludes any tracking information.

Click Copy Markup to copy the HTML markup to your computer’s clipboard.

Unsubscribe Hyperlinks

When generating an unsubscribe hyperlink, make sure that it contains the data-informz-link-type=”Unsubscribe_Web_Page” attribute. This allows the template to pass the unsubscribe hyperlink validation test before activating.

MemberSuite Personalizations

The following personalization fields are now available with the Informz for MemberSuite integration:

  • Primary Organization
  • Primary Organization Role
  • Membership Object
  • Membership Status
  • Membership Type
  • Chapter
  • Inherited
  • Join Date
  • Expire Date

Please note that when the integration provides more than one record for membership queries, Informz automatically selects the most recent active membership (personalizations currently have a one-to-one relationship). If there is no active record, Informz uses the most recent record.

Personalization Cache – Admin Control

Admin users can now control the personalization cache for the following integrations:

  • Aptify
  • Association Anywhere
  • iMIS
  • MemberNation (Salesforce)
  • MemberSuite
  • netFORUM Enterprise 2014 (and later)
  • netFORUM Enterprise 2013 (and earlier)
  • netFORUM Pro
  • Nimble AMS (Salesforce)
  • Personify360
  • Salesforce

Steps

To enable the personalization cache, navigate to Admin > System Settings.

Scroll to the Personalization Cache heading. Check the Allow fields to be cached checkbox to enable the personalization cache.

Click Update at the bottom of the page to finish.

Personalization Testing (Integrations)

JIRA: IN-12007

SF: N/A

When using MD2, users can now test personalization fields from the following integrations:

  • Aptify
  • Association Anywhere
  • MemberNation (Salesforce)
  • MemberSuite
  • netFORUM Enterprise (2014 and later)
  • netFORUM Enterprise (2013 and earlier)
  • netFORUM Pro
  • Nimble AMS (Salesforce)
  • Personify360
  • Salesforce

When testing, Informz retrieves personalization field values from the personalization cache.

Steps

To test a mailing’s personalization, open a mailing in MD2 (make sure that you’ve set a target group in the Options tab). Click the Review & Send tab.

Scroll down to the Personalization Test heading and click Run Test.

After the test has run, you’ll see a table that lists all the integration personalization fields in your mailing with their corresponding subscribers. Any blank fields display a warning icon to let you know that the personalization value for that specific subscriber is empty (these subscribers see a default value if one is available).

Additional Notes

Informz displays integration personalization fields with the following format: %%WSI||[data_element]%%

Some integrations use personalization fields that are target group-dependent. Originally, users needed to select a target group prior to adding personalizations. In MD2, however, you can now select a personalization field before you select a target group. Because of this, the following integrations only used cached values for personalization tests in MD2:

  • netFORUM Enterprise (2013 or earlier)
  • netFORUM Pro

If you use netFORUM Enterprise (2013 or earlier) or netFORUM Pro, please note that MD2 personalizations are unavailable if you have not activated your account’s personalization cache. Please see this article for details about activating the personalization cache.

Finally, please note that there are some integrations that use personalization fields that are similar but not identical. In these cases, make sure that you use the personalization test to verify that your selected personalization is correctly replaced

Unsubscribe Hyperlinks

Informz now validates that Template Designer 2 (TD2) templates include an unsubscribe hyperlink before they are activated; these hyperlinks must be in both the template designer and text versions of the mailing. Similarly, Informz validates mailings in MD2 and prevents users from sending them if they do not have an unsubscribe hyperlink.

Template Designer 2

If users have not added an unsubscribe hyperlink, they’ll receive the following error messages in the Review & Activate tab:

Adding an unsubscribe hyperlink in TD2 automatically adds a corresponding link to the text version. However, if users modify the text version before the hyperlink has been added, Informz does not automatically update the modified text version.

The TD2 From HTML version uses the same validations as the designer version. HTML unsubscribe hyperlinks should be generated using the Hyperlink Tool.

Mailing Designer 2

If users have not added an unsubscribe hyperlink, they’ll receive an error message in the Review & Send tab. This should only occur for mailings that use templates created prior to this release.

Writeback Scheduling

We have updated the options on the Writeback Settings page (Admin > Setup > Bridge Configuration > Writeback Settings):

Users have two options:

  • Manual Only: Only send writebacks manually.
  • Automatic: Send writebacks automatically after the mailing send (one to seven days). Clicking this radio button expand the page and reveals the selection dropdown list.
