2017-07-28 (TD/MD 2 Version 13)

Release Date: July 28, 2017

This release continues development on Template Designer 2 (TD2) and Mailing Designer 2 (MD2).

Asset Manager Improvements

Originally, there were inconsistencies with image names and displays in the Asset Manager (text wrapping, incomplete filenames, etc.). These have been fixed, and the following properties now apply to Asset Manager files:

  • When gallery images/folders load, they’ll display their name on one line. If the name is longer than the space provided, the UI cuts the filename off (this is expected). Hovering over a gallery image/folder displays a tooltip with the full filename.
  • Image dimensions display below each image.
  • The Edit Image icon (“pencil icon”) displays when hovering over an image. Hovering over an image surrounds that image with a grey highlight.

Please note that documents in the gallery do not display dimensions (you can add documents through a Document hyperlink).

Asset Manager Searches

The TD/MD 2 Asset Manager now includes a search field to locate specific files.

Enter a search term in the field and click Search. Any results with that name display in the Asset Manager window.

If no files are found, users see the following message:

Bookmarks

Users can now add bookmarks in TD/MD 2.

Template Designer 2

In the Properties panel, you can name your Mailing Content Areas (MCAs).

The MCA name becomes the bookmark name. However, if no name is provided, Informz does not add a default name.

When you add a hyperlink, there is a new option for bookmarks.

Click the Bookmark dropdown list to select your desired bookmark (only MCAs with names appear in this list). If there are no named MCAs in your template, you’ll receive the following error message: “There are no bookmarks available. To add a bookmark, fill in the name property of any Mailing Content Area.”

Note that any MCAs named in TD2 also appear in MD2 with the same name.

Mailing Designer 2

After adding a story, you can name your MD2 stories in the Properties panel. Informz adds a corresponding bookmark to that story.

As above, when you add a hyperlink, there is a new option for bookmarks. Clicking the link automatically navigates the reader to linked bookmark.

Button Font-Family

The TD2 button element options (in the Theme menu) now contain a dropdown list for Font-Family (by default, this dropdown uses the Standard Text 1 font-family; you can select an alternative font-family by from this list).

Editing Custom Layouts

When working on a template, if you decide to edit a custom layout (via the Gear icon), you cannot cancel the action – clicking Cancel does not exit the Layout Editor. This has been fixed, and you can now delete custom layouts directly from the Layouts panel.

Footer Layout Padding

The following default footer layouts now have 20 pixels of padding applied on all sides (top, bottom, left, and right):

  • Contact with Social Icons
  • Centered Contact with Social Icons
  • Contact Information

Google Analytics

Google Analytics properties are now editable for each link on the MD2 mailing level. You can access these properties by navigating to MD2 > Options tab > Analytics.

Check the Do not track for this mailing checkbox to disable Google Analytics for your mailing.

Hyphenation

There is a new Theme menu Hyphenation control under the Text element.

When you check the Attempt to hyphenate words in sent mailing checkbox, Informz attempts to hyphenate long words that would be otherwise placed on separate lines (such as those in a column). This can help when rendering mailings, especially with multi-column layouts that do not stack on mobile devices, but please note that results may vary across different browsers and email clients.

Mailing Activity Reports

The Mailing Activity Report now fully supports MD2 (both regular and A/B mailings). The report no longer includes the following categories, which are not applicable to MD2 mailings:

  • Key Metrics tab (Viral)
    • Send to Friend
    • Social Posts
  • Details tab (Viral)
    • Send to Friend
    • Mailing Social Posts
  • Options tab
    • Text-Only Format
    • Recency Rule
    • Frequency Rule
    • Content Page Template

Pre-Header Background Colors

By default, pre-headers do not use background color controls. Instead, they use the body background color for the template in three discrete places:

  • The design canvas in MD/TD 2.
  • The email previews on the Review tab.
  • When the pre-header itself has been selected so that the text can be modified (the Rich Text Editor displays the body background color).

Send to Winner

MD2 now features a Send to Winner option when you’ve enabled A/B testing in a mailing. The A and B versions are sent to a percentage of the subscribers, and, after a period of time, the remainder of the subscribers receive the best performing version (if both versions are tied, subscribers receive the A version).

You can use Send to Winner with the following schedule options (the Send to Winner features are slightly different for each option):

  • Schedule One-Time
  • Daily or Weekly/Monthly

Schedule One-Time

When you select Schedule One-Time, the Send to Winner delivery method includes the following three fields:

  • Initially Send: Select a percentage of your subscribers to receive the A version and the B version. For example, if you select 10% in the dropdown list, a subset of 10% receives the A version and a subset of 10% receives the B version (there is no overlap).
  • Date Picker: Click the “Then On…” Date Picker to set a date and time to send to the remaining subscribers. For example, if you selected 10% A version/10% B version in the Initially Send dropdown list, the remaining 80% receive the winning version. Informz automatically displays the remaining percentage.
  • Winning Version: Click the dropdown list to select the criterion used to determine the winner:
    • Highest Delivery Rate
    • Highest Open Rate
    • Highest Click Rate
    • Lowest Unsubscribe Rate

Daily or Weekly/Monthly

When you select Daily or Weekly or Monthly, the Send to Winner delivery method includes the following three fields:

  • Initially Send: Select a percentage of your subscribers to receive the A version and the B version. For example, if you select 10% in the dropdown list, a subset of 10% receives the A version and a subset of 10% receives the B version (there is no overlap).
  • Duration: Click the “Then wait…” dropdown list to set a duration after which the mailing sends to the remaining subscribers. You can select between one and seven days.
  • Winning Version: Click the dropdown list to select the criterion used to determine the winner:
    • Highest Delivery Rate
    • Highest Open Rate
    • Highest Click Rate
    • Lowest Unsubscribe Rate

Spellcheck

The Rich Text Editor in TD/MD 2 now features spellcheck.

Please keep in mind the following notes:

  • The Rich Text Editor spellcheck does not work in Internet Explorer.
  • This feature enables autocorrect in Safari.

Templates – Extra Large Buttons

In the TD2 Theme menu, there is a new Extra Large (“XLarge”) size option in the dropdown.
